Home Sweet Home

So I am back home now but missing Paris. It was fun to see my cat Ocelot. She will not leave my side! So I have been reading your comments and I was very pleased to see that Cole and Danni knew what ocean I flew across...The Atlantic Ocean! Great job you guys! I also noticed that none of my friends knew that the Eiffel Tower was going to be torn down after it was built and what saved it. I know that my students know this, but I will tell you all just in case. No one in France liked the Eiffel Tower because they thought it was ugly, but the couldn't tear it down because it had an important radio antenna on top of it. So, now you know!

Au Revoir Paris

I have to leave soon and I am very sad about that. Audrey made me my favorite Indian food (Aloo Gobi) for dinner and we picked up a baguette from the boulangerie. Audrey, Guillaume (her boyfriend) and I ate, watched a movie, and now I am packing up. Au revoir (goodbye) Audrey and Guillaume and au revoir Paris. I will see all you students on Monday!!!

My song for you!

My feet hurt!

So today we walked all over Paris! We saw fountains, shops, churches, and the City Hall (called the Hotel de Ville in French!) Audrey and I had a lot of fun so here are some pictures to show you what we did!

Mona Ms. Baker and The Louvre

So today we went to a very famous museum in Paris, The Louvre. In the Louvre you can see paintings and other pieces of art from some very famous artists. One of the most famous is a painting called the Mona Lisa which was done by a man named Leonardo da Vinci. The cool thing about the painting is that it seems as though everywhere you walk in the room, the eyes of Mona Lisa follow you! Cool, huh. I got a postcard to show you the Mona Lisa when I get back, but until then you will just have to see the Mona Ms. Baker! Also, the big glass triangle sits on top of the museum so when we were inside, we had to go underneath it!!

Champs d'Elysees

This afternoon, Audrey and I went to the Champs d'Elysees where we got to go shopping and drink hot chocolate. At one end of the Champs d'Elysees is the Arc de Triomphe (Arc of Triumph). The arc is to honor the soldiers who fought for France in the Napoleonic Wars. There is also a memorial there to honor the soldiers who died fighting for France. There is a special song about the Champs d'Elysees that I know so that is what the video is about (I made Audrey do one too!) At the other end of the street is a great building with the French flag on top. I thought you might like to see their is the same colors as ours, but looks different. Also, there was a store called Morgan Mania (like the Morgan in our afternoon kindergarten class!)

Le Poisson D' Avril

So today I went back to Chelles with my sister. This time I got to go to school with her and meet the kids. She gets to go into different classes to teach them English and today she taught the 2nd graders. Also, today in the United States is April Fool's Day where you get to trick someone. In France, they celebrate it a little differently and they call it Le Poisson d'Avril (April Fish Day!). They draw fish with a message on it and give it to people (sometimes they give it to someone in secret by sticking it to their back, but I don't think that sounds nice!) Anyway, one of Audrey's students (Elodie) gave her a fish today so here is a picture of that! Also, in the classes, the kids are not allowed to talk at all or they get in trouble. And, every time the principal comes into the room, the kids have to stand up! Should we try that when Mr. Buchman comes in one day!?

McDonalds, Roofs, and the Train

So today I got to go visit my sister in a town called Chelles (pronounced Shell) where she teaches English to kids. I rode the train there which was really fun! While there, I saw something that you guys have probably seen before...a McDonalds! Can you believe they have them in France. While walking around, I noticed that there is not much space for flowers, grass and trees. So, some people have gardens on their roofs! Weird, huh!?

My first day in Paris

My first day here has been so fun but I am so tired. I didn't get to sleep much on the plane and then when I got here I wanted to play with my sister! When I got to her apartment, I got to ride up to the 6th floor in a super small elevator! It was pretty funny. And then we went out and got a baguette. Everyday my sister (and many people in France) walk to the Boulangerie to get a baguette (bread) to eat with their meal. It was super fun to do even though it was raining. Now we are settling in for the night and we will play guitar hero!

The airplane

Hey Guys! So I boarded a plane for Paris today. It was a HUGE plane, but it needed to be to get me across a HUGE ocean. Do you know what ocean I am flying across? If you do, make a post and tell me! It will take 10 hours. Can you believe that? I will get to watch the movie Enchanted though!
